Job Description
The freelancer will be responsible for automated, guided, and manual accessibility testing and communicating results to various audiences within the Stride Learning ecosystem. This position also requires communicating recommendations via face-to-face, virtual, written, and voice communication to address accessibility challenges.
Identify and analyze accessibility issues and offer potential solutions in digital assets, including websites, courses running in various Learning Management Systems, documents, media including audio and video only and multimedia and eBook and interactive PDFs. Identify digital assets to ensure that they meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0 & 2.1). Ability to operate automated accessibility checkers and interpret and communicate results to various audiences. Understand the ways that persons with disabilities interact with computer-based information systems and be able to develop fluency in using assistive technology, including magnification, text-to-speech, screen readers, and other browser-based adaptive technologies. Ability to use manual techniques to test for accessibility compliance of elements in design, development, and production environments. Ability to work within a variety of design thinking and design system frameworks:

Summary: An enterprise client is looking for a professional and experienced Accessibility Specialist for 3+ months,20-40 hours a week.
The freelancer will be responsible for automated, guided, and manual accessibility testing and communicating results to various audiences within the Stride Learning ecosystem. This position also requires communicating recommendations via face-to-face, virtual, written, and voice communication to address accessibility challenges.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
●Identify and analyze accessibility issues and offer potential solutions in digital assets, including websites, courses running in various Learning Management Systems, documents, media including audio and video only and multimedia and eBook and interactive PDFs;
●Identify digital assets to ensure that they meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0 & 2.1);
●Ability to operate automated accessibility checkers and interpret and communicate results to various audiences;
●Understand the ways that persons with disabilities interact with computer-based information systems and be able to develop fluency in using assistive technology, including magnification, text-to-speech, screen readers, and other browser-based adaptive technologies;
●Ability to use manual techniques to test for accessibility compliance of elements in design, development, and production environments;
●Ability to work within a variety of design thinking and design system frameworks:
Agile, Universal design, User Experience Design
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree in Computer Science or Education AND
Experience of 3-5 years in educational technology/publishing with an emphasis on web accessibility OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificates and Licenses: Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CAPCC) or other advanced experience in web accessibility work in publishing and web design.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience working as part of a remote team
Strong organizational skills. Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
Ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines. Ability to work with different departments with different needs for accessibility information.
Familiarity with the Individuals with Disabilities Act, Section 504, Section 508, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Skills in understanding HTML, CSS, ARIA, JavaScript and other programming languages.
Experience working in remote, fast paced and collaborative environments with peers from different backgrounds and skill sets.
Experience with teams that build sites and contents that are accessible (you've worked with WAI-ARIA and done WCAG 2.0+ AA/Section 508 work).

Fluency working within dev tools in current browsers.Understand the four principles of accessibility of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and can identify problems within HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other programming languages and web applications that might be reflected in usability and access for people with disabilities.
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
Google Suite (Docs, Spreadsheet, Presentations) and adaptive apps.
Must be available for some work during EST business hours for meetings during the week with various teams.
Ability to clear required background check

  • This position is open to residents of, and may be performed remotely from Washington, D.C., and from any state.
  • Compensation & Benefits:Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
  • We anticipate this position will pay $26.74 - $42.l78 per hour. This is a temporary/contractor role, and you will be an employee of Randstad. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
