Position Summary:Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director of Compliance for Athletics. - Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of responsibilities:
Collaborates with the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and act as an NCAA compliance liaison for the Intercollegiate Athletics Program. This includes research, investigation, interpretation, and educational arm of the department with compliance and risk management issues. The position will be responsible for educating and developing the student-athletes, coaches, athletics staff, other institutional staff members, boosters, fans, and local community regarding compliance and certification issues.
Responsible for acquiring and maintaining a detailed knowledge of NCAA, Conference, and University Policies & Procedures.
Responsible for the timely completion and submission of all NCAA, Conference, and University student-athlete forms as they pertain to student-athlete departmental staff rules. Individual will implement and maintain all policies and procedures of the department, University, Conference, and NCAA.
Monitor and ensure compliance of Bylaw 11 (Personnel) to include but not limited to collecting the staff declaration forms from each sport team throughout the academic year to confirm that the sports team is operating within the numerical coaching/staff limitations and that the duties, qualifications, and responsibilities for each position is in conformity with NCAA legislation and institutional policies and procedures.
Monitor and ensure compliance of NCAA Bylaw 13 (Recruiting) legislation to include but not limited to the topic areas of Camps/Clinics, Contacts/Evaluations, Telephone Calls, Official/Unofficial Visits, Individuals Associated with Prospective Student-Athletes, Recruiting Materials, Banquets & Meetings, Recruiting & Scouting Services, and Local Sports Clubs.
Collect and monitor outside athletically related income and benefits that are received by athletic department staff members annually.
Review and monitor student-athlete employment opportunities and student-athlete Name, Image, and Likeness opportunities to ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference, and State of Florida rules and regulations.
Administer the annual NCAA Compliance Recruiting Rules Education to sport-specific staff members (coaching and non-coaching sport-specific staff members) across all sports teams.
Create a database to help track and educate student-athlete agents.
Perform Bylaw 14 initial eligibility academic projections for potential domestic/international incoming prospective student-athletes consistent with the NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
Maintain an online filing system and possess the ability to navigate and utilize ARMS computer software.
Submit waivers, interpretation requests, and violations to the Conference and NCAA when applicable.
Monitor and ensure compliance of Bylaw 16 (Awards & Benefits) to include but not limited to reviewing awards that are distributed to student-athletes, team entertainment expenses, occasional meal expenses, and managing the complimentary admissions process for guests of coaches and student-athletes as well as complimentary admissions that are provided to prospective student-athletes and high school/prep school/two-year college coaches from the institution.
Review expense reports through Workday to ensure that recruiting expenses, vacation period expenses, and team travel expenses are in conformity with NCAA legislation and institutional policy.
Monitor and ensure compliance of all Bylaw 17 (Playing & Practice Season) rules and regulations, including but not limited to the length of playing seasons for each sport, maximum and minimum number of contests/dates of competition for each sport, countable athletically related activities, required athletically related activities, voluntary athletically related activities, student-athlete outside competition, tryouts for enrolled students, summer athletic activities for Football and Basketball, time management plans, and foreign tours.
This position also supervises volunteers and entry-level compliance staff members.
Works all home football contests and the majority of men's basketball home games.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
