Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member's tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Position Overview

The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Public Health is inviting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Division of Biostatistics. All research areas will be considered. We especially welcome scholars whose research enriches or expands on current research being conducted by division and College of Public Health faculty, including (but not limited to) causal inference, clinical trials, epidemiologic methods, high-dimensional data analysis, infectious diseases, longitudinal data analysis, missing data, omics data analysis, spatial modeling, survey sampling, and survival analysis. The division values the full spectrum of research including theoretical and methodological development, computational methods, and applications. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the excellence of our academic community. This is a nine-month, hard-money position. The start date is August 15, 2025. Salary will be determined by the candidate's credentials.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline by the start of employment.
  • Applicants must have strong records of peer-reviewed publications and teaching/mentoring that are commensurate with experience.

Division of Biostatistics

The Division of Biostatistics includes 12 full-time faculty members who are engaged in independent funded methodological and interdisciplinary research as well as teaching graduate and undergraduate students. Faculty collaborate with researchers from various colleges, centers, and institutes, including the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine and the Institute for Population Research as well as external organizations such as the Government Resource Center and Nationwide Children's Hospital. The faculty co-administers and participates in an Interdisciplinary PhD program in Biostatistics with the Department of Statistics, which currently has about 25 students. The Division also administers the MS (Master of Science) and MPH (Master of Public Health) programs that specialize in biostatistics and participates in the teaching of applied biostatistics courses to various graduate programs and the new, rapidly growing BS program in public health. The division sponsors several diversity enhancement programs including the Math Alliance (https://www.mathalliance.org/), Florence Nightingale Day (https://fndaystats.org/), and the Fostering Diversity in Biostatistics annual workshop (https://www.enar.org/meetings/FosteringDiversity/). The College of Public Health

The College of Public Health is Ohio's first accredited college of public health. First established in 1995 as part of the College of Medicine, the University Board of Trustees created the College of Public Health in 2007.
