Description:

The Department of Economics at Smith College invites applications for a tenure-track position in international trade and trade policy at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2025. We are especially interested in candidates with secondary research and teaching interests in development economics, as well as regional expertise in Latin America, East Asia, or Africa. Successful candidates should have an active research program and be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Smith College has a 2/2 teaching load, and teaching responsibilities for this position will regularly include 

an upper-level elective course on international trade for majors and a lower-level course on the global economy or economies outside of North America that will serve a wide range of students, including non-majors. Other teaching responsibilities would include electives or seminar courses connected to their specialty; one or more core courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, or econometrics; and providing research-based opportunities for our students.  Ph.D. in Economics or a relevant field is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in Economics are encouraged to apply.
