The successful candidate will be well prepared to become a leader in teaching introductory and intermediate math classes, and will actively engage with undergraduate students both inside and outside of the classroom. Such leadership and engagement may include developing new or updated curricula, mentoring research projects, effecting pedagogical innovation, mentoring teaching, or organizing introductory courses with multiple sections. We invite candidates to describe ways in which their leadership could contribute to the department in their cover letter. The tenant of the position will be expected to be an engaged member of the department and of the profession. The Department of Mathematics at Wake Forest University takes seriously the charge to be a space which is truly welcoming to all, and we are actively engaged in working to remove barriers to success and create new systems of support for students and faculty. We especially encourage applications from those belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented in mathematics and the sciences. A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related area is required.

The teaching load for this position is three courses per semester, consisting primarily of introductory and intermediate classes. This position is not eligible for tenure, but it is eligible for promotion to Associate and Full Teaching Professor and for renewal with progressively longer-term contracts. Teaching Professors at Wake Forest are eligible for all of the same professional rights and resources afforded tenure track faculty except research leaves. This includes professional development support, such as departmental and college travel funds.

The department has twenty-eight faculty members. We offer B.A. and B.S. degrees in Mathematics and B.S. degrees in Applied Mathematics. We also have a mathematics minor. The department has a graduate program offering an M.S. in Mathematics with both a thesis and non-thesis option. In addition, the department currently supports five postdoctoral positions which are mentored by our permanent research faculty.
