The Department of Health and Human Physiology has an outstanding opportunity for a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as the Assistant to the DEO (Departmental Executive Officer, or Department Chair).

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Support and Management
    • Manage the DEO's schedule, correspondence, and travel arrangements.
    • Coordinate faculty and executive committee meetings, including agenda distribution and minute-taking.
    • Assist in planning and executing special events.
  • Administration
    • Provide administrative supervision to student employees.
    • Coordinate with marketing and outreach teams to develop content for print, website, and social media.
  • Purchasing and Finance
    • Purchase supplies and services for the department.
    • Compile and verify procurement card receipts.
  • Supporting Faculty Search Processes
    • Communicate with faculty candidates to arrange campus visits.
    • Coordinate travel and expense reimbursements for faculty candidates visiting campus for interviews.

Education Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative or executive support position.
  • Extensive proficiency in computer software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations, especially procedures and policies pertaining to faculty review, promotion and recruiting.
  • Proficiency in UI systems including MAUI, ICON, ProTrav, procurement and other systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks; ability to multi-task and work as a team.
  • Experience supervising students and/or professional staff.
