SUMMARY
The Biomedical Engineering Technician III is a professional who provides technical support and assistance in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of medical equipment and devices used in healthcare settings. They work closely with biomedical engineers, healthcare professionals, and equipment manufacturers to ensure the proper functioning and safety of medical equipment. The Biomedical Engineering Technician may also be involved in assisting with the installation or testing of new medical equipment, conducting performance evaluations, or participating in quality assurance activities in support of the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) aeromedical research and development. This position is 100% onsite in Fort Novosel, AL.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Bachelor's and five (5) years of experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Must have a strong understanding of medical equipment principles, electronics, and mechanical systems.
Possess excellent technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills are also important for interacting with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs laboratory procedures, testing, research activities, and other scientific and administrative tasks in fields such as electrical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, biomechanics, or other related field.
Demonstrates experience in electronics; computer interfaces; instrumentation; aircraft and avionics equipment; design, development, testing, or manufacture of electro-optical, acoustical, or display devices, or related field through certifications.
Seeks guidance from Principal and Associate Investigators to develop protocol test methodology and support protocol data collection.
Seeks guidance from research staff on technical questions concerning protocol requirements.
Manages instrumentation, equipment, and data acquisition tracking, operation, and maintenance.
Assists with tool crib management: inventory, maintenance, and logs.
Assists with finding items for order to meet required specifications provided to conduct research.
Accepts technical, safety, and procedural guidance from research staff and management personnel.
Assists with developing and updating the standard operating procedures for safety and operation of equipment.
Desires knowledge in circuits, wiring, electrical signals, and machine shop fabrication.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's and five (5) years of experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
