Brunswick Job Corps Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor who is committed to helping young individuals overcome challenges and build a brighter future. As a TEAP Substance Abuse Counselor, you will be an essential part of our student support team. Your responsibilities will include providing counseling services, facilitating educational programs, and fostering a compassionate environment that promotes recovery and positive decision-making.
Responsibilities:

Individual Counseling: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions to assess and address the unique needs of students facing substance abuse challenges. Develop personalized treatment plans that support recovery and personal development.

Group Therapy: Facilitate therapeutic group sessions to create a supportive community for students in the TEAP program. Provide a safe space for open dialogue, sharing, and mutual encouragement among participants.

Educational Workshops: Develop and implement educational workshops on substance abuse prevention, relapse prevention, and life skills. Empower students with knowledge and tools to make informed decisions and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations. Collaborate with the broader support team to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated response to students in need.

Collaboration with External Resources: Work closely with external substance abuse treatment providers, mental health professionals, and community resources to ensure a continuum of care for students transitioning beyond the Job Corps program.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and treatment plans. Generate reports as required and participate in case conferences to discuss student progress.

- A minimum of one-year experience in drug/alcohol counseling or related field required.
