Role Objective:

The Chief of Staff to the COO is a key strategic partner pivotal in navigating the complexities of Group 1001's operations organization. This individual, who will be a member of the Operations Leadership team, will be a strategic and trusted advisor responsible for providing critical support to the COO and the overall organization. This role demands a highly organized, strategic, detail oriented, tech-savvy, and collaborative leader; while also having understanding of the insurance industry with a keen financial acumen and knack for operational excellence. This individual will need to be adept at inter-departmental communication to help monitor and drive the goals of the operations organization. The Chief of Staff role will play an integral component helping execute the firm's vision to build a next-gen financial services company.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning/Project Management

  • Drive key annual projects such as annual strategic plan refresh, budgeting process, updated goals and performance management KPI's.
  • Review and analyze budgets, monitor them closely with finance team, develop trends and forecasts. Scrutinize them and find opportunities for savings.
  • Assist the COO in overseeing, developing and implementing key projects and initiatives, ensuring they align with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Develop and build on relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and responsiveness of existing operations and help define new operational strategies by working with COO and other executives and key stakeholders on special projects.

Performance Monitoring
  • Track and report on all operational and other key metrics working throughout the organization to gather and monitor.
  • Maintain executive level operations related dashboards and KPI's for senior management and key stakeholders.

Executive Support
  • Support COO with development of any presentations, memo's and templates to support the governance of the operations organization.
  • Partner with operations project coordinator on town halls, scope/engagement surveys, operations team meetings/offsites, and team building events.
  • Attend meetings and represent COO in the organization, as needed.

Competitive Intelligence
  • Conduct research, complete competitive analysis and provide insights so that the operations organization maintains a pulse on the industry, state-of-the-art technologies, and emerging trends.
  • Monitor industry wide groups and trade associations to identify opportunities to evangelize Group 1001's message and promote its presence within the industry. Submit operations team achievements to industry groups for recognition.
  • Scout market and partner with the G1001 Innovations team to research new vendors and partners to help Group 1001 be more productive and efficient.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  • BA / BS degree; project management certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in roles within consulting, operations, or strategic planning at a life and annuity insurance company or similar financial services firm.

Skills
  • Proficiency in change management, strategic communications, and building collaborative relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Adept at both verbal and written communications
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills and ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and long-term planning.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Possess an ownership mindset with an attitude that there are no tasks or problems beneath you.
  • Ability to drive critical goals under ambiguity and constraints demonstrating initiative
  • Experience with setting strategic direction. You'll understand the company's mission, influence strategic objectives, and execute toward measurable goals.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for business needs, reflecting a commitment to team and project engagement.
