The Cloud FinOps Manager will be accountable for the current offerings and developing the , vision and roadmap to get our cloud FinOps capabilities to the next level. The role will also be responsible for the full lifecycle of our FinOps and Cloud Optimization offering. This role is a combination of strategy and hands on work. The expectation is the role is the thought leader driving our FinOps practice and building a team that will help lead us to reduced cloud spending and maximized cloud efficiency.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Builds and leads our FinOps and Cloud Optimization practice. Responsible for developing and optimizing methods, team structure, and technology of the cloud infrastructure cost management practice.
• Develops and champions cloud infrastructure cost management best practices.
• Partners with the agencies finance, procurement, & engineering teams to help measure and manage cloud infrastructure costs. Be proficient with public cloud technology tools to help drive FinOps practices and methodologies.
• Guides building analytical models to provide data-driven guidance on cloud infrastructure spend.
• Guides creating utilization and forecasting models to predict future outcomes of cloud infrastructure spend and usage.
• Guides creating and maintaining internal documentation on FinOps and cost optimization processes.
• Provides excellent service to stakeholders, sets SLAs and holds team accountable for meeting those metrics
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Manage Cloud FinOps team and collaborate with Cloud COE
• No direct reports to start but expect to determine what the correct team size and structure is to have an effective FinOps model.
• Attract and retain qualified talent and provide leadership development, corrective action, etc.
• Work collaboratively with MGB Digital PMO and Human Resources to assure effective and efficient business practices
Fiscal Responsibility:
• No direct budgetary responsibility
• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively using Mass General Brigham resources
Working Conditions:
• Possible local travel to Mass General Brigham sites
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
• The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience with Azure, AWS, GCP and/or other cloud services.
• 5+ years of experience working in NIH or other Federal Government environment. [MJ1]
• Deep understanding of CSP FinOps tools.
• Experience with relational databases, data extraction, and data analysis tools.
• Understanding of industry best practices related to Cloud resource tagging and tagging enforcement thru automation.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization
• Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization

• Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal
• Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly
