Job Summary/Basic Function:
Supports the ongoing collection, data, and assessment analysis needs of Albertsons Library and the university at large. Provides library and university-level analysis reports, responding to special requests from library and university administrators. Ensures the ethical collection, use, and governance of data, identifying potential risks, and implementing best practices to maintain privacy, fairness, and transparency. Works with campus partners (Institutional Effectiveness, OIT, DRED, Provost Office, etc.) to share data and support quality assurance of all research information. Supports the ongoing development of the university's research information management system (RIMS) and the university's Next Frontier initiative and the drive to become a data literate university.
This is a temporary, benefit-eligible position with an anticipated duration of 2-3 years. This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

Albertsons Library is the vibrant, nurturing hub of Boise State. This is an inclusive space where people and diverse ideas flourish through research and creative activities. The Library provides high quality, relevant services to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Resources are available in person, over the phone and/or online. This includes databases, journals, books, interlibrary loan, electronics, a makerlab, and our Special Collections and Archives. We also offer rooms for studying, a family study room for students with children, and spaces for exhibits and events.
Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares deliverables for use in planning and reporting, using appropriate tools.
- Communicates clearly and regularly, follows up on inquiries and requests.
- Learns and adapts new technical/procedural knowledge/skills to keep up to date on professional skills and office needs.
- Contributes to the development of analytical reports to answer business questions.
- Conducts needs assessments and research.
- Develops productive working relationships with a team and broadly with diverse groups of people.
- Publishes standard and complex ad-hoc reports with varying detail for different audiences.
- Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Works as needed, with functional area data stewards to align or improve processes
- Engage in Data Quality, documentation, and process improvement.
- Creates and maintains documentation.
- Develop reports, visualizations, and other digital or interactive outputs focused on communicating library and university impact, research strengths, and emerging trends.
- In collaboration with other members of the Scholarly Communications and Data Management unit, serve as product owners of and technical expertise for key research information management and analysis tools such as Pure and SciVal.
- Consult with library personnel and campus partners to support data-related and assessment projects
- Utilize a variety of tools, such as APIs, to extract data from campus data sources
- Clean and integrate data files into university data management systems and databases
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: - Good knowledge of fundamentals of reporting and analyses.
- Ability to ensure validity, reliability, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of all work completed
- Ability to independently research problem areas
- Understanding of applying analytical methods to business problems, driving improved decision making and outcomes
- Experience developing data models and programming in languages, such as R or Python
- Ability to stay highly organized under pressure
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Experience with presentation and data gathering software
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent plus 2 years experience.
Preferred Qualifications: - 1 year experience with data analysis or research assessment systems or projects.
- 1 year experience working with programming languages such as Python or R.
- Experience working with APIs and web services.
- Experience with statistical analysis and related tools such as Matlab, Stata, SAS, or other similar programs.
- Experience working with data visualization software such as PowerBI, Tableau, or other similar programs.
Salary and Benefits: Salary starts at $58,905 annually. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
