The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The College has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.
The dental assistant will be responsible for chairside assisting with each half day supporting a different dentist covering a variety of dentists from general to specialty; maintaining equipment and instruments; dispensing dental materials; preparing trays; maintaining and ordering supplies; cleaning and sterilizing instruments and taking radiographs; providing patient instructions from surgery to hygiene; charting into the electronic health record including medical history and medication list and planning next patient care appointments; taking alginate impressions daily and pouring and taking patient blood pressure.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
A dental assistant needs to be able to: use of both hands, dexterity in the fingers and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, dental hand pieces, and operate dental equipment. The use of feet is necessary to manipulate dental equipment. The body must be able to work from a dental stool in order to perform most dental procedures. The ability to sit and stand for duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation; manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications; visual acuity and communication/language development. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: blood borne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); vibrating equipment; and latex.
Required: 2 years' experience in dental office practices and procedures, dental operatory practices and procedures, four-handed assisting techniques, inventory record-keeping, care of dental equipment; using a computer. Current Ohio Dental Board Dental Assistant Radiographer certification.
Desired: Formal dental assisting training, current BLS/CPR certification, 2 -4 years' private practice experience and knowledge of a wide variety of dental instruments; data entry and maintenance of electronic health records.
