The Director of External Reporting will own and manage HBI's external reporting for quarterly and annual Form 10-Q/Form 10-K filings. This role involves working closely with process owners throughout the finance organization to ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial statements and related disclosures with FASB and SEC regulations. The Director will also oversee HBI's benefit plan external financial filings and support various functions such as human resources, legal, treasury, and corporate accounting in meeting reporting and disclosure requirements.

Responsibilities

  • External Reporting:
    • Own and manage HBI's external reporting for quarterly and annual Form 10-Q/Form 10-K filings.
    • Work with process owners throughout the finance organization to obtain, review, and incorporate financial data into financial statements and related disclosures.
    • Ensure HBI public financial filings are complete, accurate, and in compliance with FASB and SEC regulations.
  • Benefit Plan Filings:
    • Own and manage HBI's benefit plan external financial filings.
    • Support functions such as human resources, legal, treasury, and corporate accounting in reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • Technical Accounting/Reporting Research:
    • Perform technical accounting/reporting research regarding US GAAP and SEC guidance/requirements.
    • Assist in the implementation of accounting standards and related reporting/disclosure requirements.Coordination with External Auditors:
  • Coordinate review activities for public filings.
    • Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Preparation and Review of Financial Statements:
    • Prepare and review financial statements, footnote disclosures, and various sections of SEC reports, such as Management Discussion and Analysis.
  • Collaboration with Senior Management:
    • Collaborate with senior finance management, Legal, Corporate Communications, and Investor Relations departments to align, review, and validate all external financial reporting materials (e.g., investor day materials, earnings call scripts, earnings releases).
  • Review of Technical Accounting Areas:
    • Review technical accounting areas such as equity compensation, derivatives, debt (including modification and extinguishment accounting), lease accounting, earnings per share, goodwill, and other intangible assets.
  • Leadership and Presentation:
    • Lead meetings with finance management and other business leaders to address and present complex technical accounting and reporting topics.
    • Lead a team of Exempt managers

Minimum Education/ Experience

Bachelor's degree with 10+ years relevant work experience; 4+ years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education/ Experience

Master's degree with 8+ years relevant work experience

Required Certification(s)

CPA License

Specific Skills or Experience Required
  • Bachelor's in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, MBA preferred
  • CPA required
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing financial statements, footnote disclosures, and SEC reports (10-Q, 10-K, etc.).
  • Expertise in ensuring compliance with FASB and SEC regulations.
  • Experience in managing the preparation and filing of external financial reports.
  • Capability to provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team.
