Job Summary

The Director Internal Communications role is a new position that reports to the VP Internal Communications. It will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing our communications plan, ensuring that CRH employees understand the strategic direction of the business and take pride in the role they are playing in living our Purpose and delivering our vision. The role requires strategic thinking and global influence. It will lead and deliver internal communication campaigns and projects while providing insights to inform decision-making. The person will collaborate with colleagues across the wider global group to build relationships across our divisions, platforms and functions. This role will be based in our CRH office in New York City.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Develop and implement coordinated internal communication plans to improve employee engagement, support organizational goals, and increase visibility of key messages across the Group.
  • Develop and implement innovative employee engagement initiatives to cultivate a positive organizational culture and broaden internal reach and influence.

Executive Communications
  • Deliver impactful internal communications programs for Global Leadership Team (GLT) members in support of their business priorities, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Ensure full line of sight on all senior leadership groupwide communications; alignment of all executive comms issuing across the Group (e.g., communications issuing in Divisions).

Business Partnering
  • Oversee all business partnering requirements for corporate functions: Finance; IT / Cyber; Procurement; HR including Talent, Learning and I&D.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to understand their communications needs and translate into relevant communication plans which supports the organization's strategic objectives.

Campaigns / Events
  • Lead high-impact campaigns and projects: plan, implement, and be responsible for internal communication campaigns and projects, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy and goals e.g., Employee Feedback Surveys; mandatory training (Code of Business Conduct; Cybersecurity).
  • Liaise with the internal events team as needed on key projects e.g., Town Halls, Live Broadcasts etc.

Change Management
  • Support for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Provide critical internal communication support during mergers and acquisitions, as needed, ensuring all employees are well informed and that the organizational culture is maintained.
  • Lead communication strategies to address changes, integrate teams, and manage transitions smoothly.

Content
  • Liaise with the content team and relevant service providers on collateral development in a range of formats - editorial; digital; multi-media.
  • Connect and collaborate with adjacent team members in function, including External Communications, Brand and Digital to increase communications effectiveness and support mutual success.

Channels / Analytics
  • Oversee a review of all internal channels and analytics in CRH.
  • Review all available tools and make recommendations on options and alternatives in partnership with key stakeholders including IT and HR.
  • Report out on results of communications or campaigns.

Budget
  • Manage the overall Group internal communications budget working with other team members to ensure all costs are tracked throughout the year.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, business or related or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years+ experience in a similar internal global communications role supporting C-Suite, ideally within large organizations.
  • Employee communications / employee engagement experience preferable.
  • Strong track-record of writing in different styles, for varied audiences.
  • Familiarity with digital communications solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the self-confidence and ability to work effectively with senior management; proven ability to collaborate and work across multiple divisions and functions
  • Extensive project management experience, with a track record of delivering high-impact internal communication campaigns.
  • Comfortable operating within a diverse international group.
  • Creative; ability to challenge accepted practice and process to drive continuous improvement.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of current trends in internal communications and employee engagement.
  • Ability to learn quickly - about the company and its activities, markets, and priorities.

Salary Details

  • $150,000-$170,000 plus bonus
