Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for the ongoing technical support, system utilization and improvements of the plant based MES system. Responsibilities include working with the plant electronic support organizations to ensure optimum performance and functionality of the network, servers, and control interfaces. Individual will develop functions of the system and may develop unique reports to support plant process improvement efforts. This position will be supported by other plant based technical groups, as well as centralized (both internal and external) IT, Engineering, Automation, and Business resources.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend the Technical aspects of the MES solution including software components, configuration, recipe and object libraries, interfaces, reports and any customizations that's required to support the MES operations.
  • Be accountable for MES interfaces that support integration to SAP, Lab Instruments, Quality execution systems, Process control systems (PLCs, etc.), and IOT digital solutions.
  • MES administration including: User setups, configuration changes and systems maintenance.
  • Coordinate security and performance upgrades with plants, corporate and external support functions.
  • Work with both business stakeholders and IT partners to document business requirements and translate to MES solutions. Work closely with Plant Electronic Maintenance functions to control costs.
  • Lead system security incident response for the plants.
  • Support 24x7 operations by resolving key issues with the MES and data reporting tools in a timely fashion
  • Be the Plant Sepasoft expert on use and system capabilities
  • Monitor and Maintain change control documentation for both MES and Control systems. Promote the effective use of IT standards and tools
  • Develop reports and /or direct the creation of reports to support plant's process improvement efforts.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System. Report any issues to appropriate facility management.
  • A trained designee will be appointed by plant management to cover for absences or vacancies.
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate policies, standards, specifications, and practices that support and enhance the company's objectives. This position must interact with a broad section of the industry not only at the plant level but including government, vendor, and industry representatives.
  • Work with plant management teams to determine improvement opportunities and with central technical functions (IT and Engineering) to define and implement MES system support. Maintains strong relationship with corporate MES/SAP group to assure system enhancements/configuration changes are shared across facilities and are standardized where applicable.
  • Critical and frequent contacts which include relationships with: Engineering, Operations, IT, Automation, Maintenance, Finance, and Corporate MES/SAP personnel. Provide status reports and recommendations to Plant Management, Central IT, Engineering and Central MES functions. External contacts include system vendors, contractors, consultants, engineers, and government agencies.
  • Involved with the installation of the equipment into the plants. Including lifting/carrying requirements, push/pull requirements, work posture requirements, such as sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, drive, etc. Subject to work hazards and cold, wet environments.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Information Technology or another related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years work experience in food processing industry or discipline specific environment. Minimum 5 years equivalent work experience acceptable with Associates degree. Prefer exposure to manufacturing decision support systems for food processing. 5+ years in process automation, MES and batch manufacturing industry standards and/or quality system disciplines. The candidate will have comprehension of shop floor activities and process automation in addition to prior experience in MES use and support. Strong domain expertise in the application of IT to manufacturing, including a broad appreciation of processes and how they are supported by IT tools and systems. Experience with Manufacturing Operations Management mapping techniques. Knowledge of industry standard integration protocols and programming applications such as OPC-UA, Ignition, Data historian, ODBC, SQL and Web API. Has integrated MES with ERP solutions such as SAP.
  • Communication Skills: Requires strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, ability to work independently, and must be results oriented.
  • Computer Skills: Advanced computer skills including broad knowledge of PC's, printers, data collection scanners, networking, windows-based servers, Microsoft SQL Server, and database administration, Microsoft Office and Project required.
  • Special Skills: Experience in food processing / packaging. Previous MES or food industry decision support experience preferred. Requires independent judgment with analytical skills in formulating decisions concerning variable problems and creative solutions. Design work involving significant study and contemplation. Decision making, project management, problem solving and performing calculations.
  • Must reside in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
