Overview
The Facility maintenance assistant, plays a crucial and rewording role in the operation and upkeep of the beautiful Gear for Sports campus. This person will be highly visible, performing a variety of tasks from caring for the remarkable indoor stream, to working on requests from the President of the company. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate multiple skills in a variety of trades, along with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Weekly Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm
Essential Duties
- Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and other building fixtures. This would include but not limited to: changing filters, batteries, valves, faucets, fans, light bulbs, light ballast, office work aids, AV equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues related to building systems and equipment, and take appropriate action to resolve them efficiently.
- Repair Work: Conduct minor repairs and renovations as needed, including painting, carpentry, and drywall repair.
- Safety Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify safety hazards, ensure compliance with building codes and regulations, and take corrective actions as necessary. This includes NFPA inspections such as, monthly emergency light, exit light, fire extinguishers, fire alarm system, first aid kits, ETC.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, such as power outages, leaks, or equipment failures, and take appropriate measures to minimize disruptions.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair work, and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair services that cannot be handled internally.
- Cleaning and Janitorial Duties: Assist with cleaning and janitorial tasks as needed to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the facility.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and expenditures to track maintenance history and identify recurring issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field is required.
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, and external vendors.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
- Knowledge of forklifts, and other warehouse powered equipment
- Able to utilize computer and Microsoft Office products
