What You Will Do

Panduit is a leading innovator in the field of fiber optic connectivity and structured cabling solutions. We are seeking a talented and motivated Fiber Optic Connectivity Design Engineer to join our dynamic team.

The Fiber Optic Connectivity Design Engineer works on various aspects of an engineering project introducing new, innovative products. This includes activities such as concept ideation, component and assembly CAD design, prototyping modeling, engineering calculations and analysis, project planning and management, competitive analysis, product testing, and manufacturing implementation. Panduit is committed to delivering premium products and solutions to our global customers and Fiber Optic Connectivity Engineers make a direct impact toward this goal. Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform engineering tasks utilizing experience, technical expertise, and sound judgment.
  • Design and develop new fiber optic connectivity and structured cabling product offerings.
  • Conduct research and analysis to develop new fiber optic products and improve existing designs.
  • Develop project plans and manage projects to schedule and cost.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and product management to implement products and ensure product specifications are met.
  • Create and analyze technical documentation including engineering plans/sketches/drawings, test plans/records, instructions, manuals, reports, etc.
  • Develop prototype models and perform simulations and testing to validate design performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, patents, materials, and technologies to support project efforts.
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-8 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Solid understanding of fiber optic principles and technologies.
  • Experience designing fiber optic connectivity or similar high-precision mechanism solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D parametric CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks).
  • Experience designing plastic and sheet metal parts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with data center network architecture, connectivity, and physical infrastructure a plus.
  • Preferred experience with fiber optic testing and measurement equipment.
