Over time the Institution expanded its mission from collecting archival material to conducting advanced research on contemporary history and economics and applying this scholarship to current public policy challenges. With its eminent scholars and world-renowned library and archives, the Hoover Institution seeks to improve the human condition by advancing ideas that promote economic opportunity and prosperity while securing and safeguarding peace for America and all humanity.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Hoover Institution is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Systems and Business Analyst to lead the implementation and/or integration of new systems, improved processes, and manage organizational change within and outside the finance team. This role is critical in driving efficiency, improving financial and operational workflows, and ensuring the successful adoption of new technologies and methodologies for finance across the organization. The ideal candidate will specify requirements and/or design solutions for business information systems and incorporate new technical systems to improve work-flow, production, efficiency and effectiveness. Knowledge of Stanford's systems and processes, including month-end and year-end close processes, Oracle Financials, OBI and other ERP systems is required. Under the leadership of the CFO for the Hoover Institution, the Financial Systems and Business Analyst will lead efforts related to the following key responsibilities:
CORE DUTIES:

      Translate business processes into system requirements and/or development of systems solutions. Analyze new business requirements, assist with feasibility of enhancement requests, system functionality, current system use and user needs.Specify functional analysis and design and work with developers and analysts to recommend solutions and resolve system issues.Review, research and evaluate software to determine its usefulness and appropriateness as related to existing or proposed business systems; assist or develop preliminary and detailed system design documentation.Perform testing of new systems, upgrades and patching of existing systems; plan, conduct and document results of testing.Develop instructional materials, training and job aids.Advise users requiring assistance in solving complex problems or issues regarding management and business systems.Analyze data and provide data sets to users for analysis. May include development of operational and analytical reports for end users.Liaise with external vendors or partners in support of business systems, which may include system development, implementation and/or operations.Coordinate the implementation of new or modified business systems.
ADDITIONAL CORE DUTIES:
      Systems Implementation: leveraging Stanford ERP, lead implementation of an expanded and meaningful Chart of Accounts as the foundational data structure to streamline the tracking of revenues and expenses at the Hoover Institution.Partner with Financial Management Services, University Budget Office, and other Stanford central offices to identify best practices for leveraging existing systems, integrating new tools, and maximizing use of reporting solutions to automate current manual processesChange Management: Design and lead the execution of change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions to new systems and processes. Engage with stakeholders at all levels to facilitate buy-in, training, and ongoing support.Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data analytics to monitor KPIs related to systems and processes and empower key business partners by providing feedback via the use of key reports.Provide regular updates to senior management on key metrics, project progress, and areas for further optimization with the end goal maximizing organizational excellence.Training and Support: Develop training programs and materials to ensure staff and Hoover Fellows have the financial tools and resources they need to be effective financial stewards while reducing administrative burden. Implement a model for client support and troubleshooting to ensure long-term success.

Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and five years relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
      Knowledge of, computer system capabilities, business processes, and work flow. Experience with enterprise applications and understanding of database driven applications.Strong understanding of the software development life cycle.Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting management studies and in systems analysis. Current knowledge of rapidly changing computer technology. Skill in conducting interviews and facilitating group meetings.Skill in developing and conducting training programs.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs.Strong listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Ability to design and document complex business systems.Proven problem solving and analytical thinking and ability to approach problems logically and systematically.
Preferred/Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
      Operations experience, especially in designing, redesigning, and implementing business processes.Demonstrated customer service skills are essential, with a focus on developing processes that enhance employee experience by meeting their needs, understanding their preferences, and solving their problems.Demonstrated ability to effectively complete projects through task prioritization, decision-making, self-motivation, proactivity, and both creative and critical thinking.Proven experience in leading large, cross-functional projects, showcasing strong leadership skills in managing complex projects that involve multiple systems and processes.Strong proficiency in visually communicating complex information and solutions, using diagramming tools and whiteboarding in client-facing scenarios, as well as in defining data metrics and creating data visualizations.Ability to quickly learn new systems and understand their integration with business processes, information architecture, and database design. Skilled in evaluating and selecting technology to fulfill business requirements and objectives.Demonstrated expertise in web application design, proficient in creating specifications, mockups, and UI/UX designs using a variety of tools.Experience in implementing and configuring CRM systems, including marketing automation platforms.Hands-on experience in data analysis, management, and transformation with a strong understanding of migration, migration, REST APIs, and ETL processes.

The expected pay range for this position is $119,554 - $144,067 per annum.
