General Service Worker - Float #21

Days Off: Friday and Saturday
Hours: Sunday 10:15AM - 7:15PM
Monday - Thursday 10:30AM - 7:30PM
Hourly Rate: $25.22
Weekly Rate: $979.20

General Purpose:
The GSW is responsible for a variety of duties pertaining to the setup, delivery and serving of food based on facility needs. A GSW/combined adheres to standards of service as established by the operation. They maintain kitchen work areas and equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

Primary Functions:
Communicates and interacts with customers in a professional manner. Loads and unloads the dish machine and transfers clean dishware to designated areas. Handles set up, service and breakdown of food and beverage stations, and the storing of leftover food following all food and safety standards. Circulates among diners and wipes tables and seats with appropriate sanitizing solutions. He/she sets tables with necessary items. Stocks self-serve food stations as needed. A GSW/ Combined wash pots and pans. Sweeps and mops kitchen floors. Empties trash.

They transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas. Daily cleaning as assigned. The General Service Worker may also be setting up the serving line, finish hot food placement, and be responsible for dessert and bread service. Assist with the preparation, set-up, execution and breakdown of all catered events within campus center. The General Service Worker is required to participate in other duties as assigned by manager or cook on duty. Lastly, the General Service Worker will comply with all state and local food service regulations, including practicing ServSafe and NSF standards.

The position is a float and may be moved to another location to fill a vacancy and/or assist as needed. This position is required to work at multiple dining locations as requested by management. There may or may not be advanced notice of the job locations or job tasks.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to use chemicals required in daily cleaning.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic English required.
  • Valid MA driver's license.
  • Uniforms as furnished by department.
  • Hair Restraint as required in College-Union Agreement.
  • Meal Breaks as assigned by management
