Graduate Assistant--PT--Spelman College Museum of Fine Art

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art, the only museum in the nation dedicated to art by and about women of the African Diaspora, seeks a highly motivated graduate student to assist the Director and museum staff with research, promotion, and other duties related to exhibitions, the permanent collection, and public programs for the Fall 2024 - Spring 2025 school year.

The Graduate Assistant will work up to 25 hours per week.

• Work closely with the Director and Museum staff on current and future exhibitions.
• Assist Director and Museum with various research and administrative tasks
• Assist in organizing staff public programs.
• Assist in staffing the museum during open hours and events.
• Conduct research in libraries and via the Internet.
• Undertake various fieldwork research.
• Prepare PowerPoint/Google Slides presentations.
• Assist in managing and creating content for museum social media accounts.

• Must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a graduate degree program.
• Excellent academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0, preferably in the fields of Art, Art History, African American Studies, Curatorial Studies, Cultural Studies, or related fields.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent and up-to-date computer and social media skills (i.e.: Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite; Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, etc.)
• Must work well with administrative colleagues, college faculty, students, volunteers, and partner institutions.
• Residing in the Atlanta area is necessary.
