Detailed Position Information
The University of Alabama School of Law seeks qualified applicants for the position of Distinguished Professor of the Practice of Law for the Spring and Fall 2025 semesters. The successful candidate will teach Federal Jurisdiction, Complex Litigation, and/or other related courses as agreeable with the Dean and Law School administration. The successful candidate will also assist the Career Services Office in developing placements and programming for the Law School's Judicial Externship Program.
Candidates must have a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school or an equivalent degree (such as a Ph.D. in a related field). Candidates also must possess academic credentials or practice experience demonstrating both expertise in the relevant subject area(s) and the potential for outstanding classroom instruction. We welcome applications from candidates who approach scholarship from a variety of perspectives and methods.
This solicitation is for a 1-year appointment (Spring and Fall 2025). This position is non-tenure earning and does not lead to security of position. Salary and benefits will be nationally competitive. All applications are confidential to the extent permitted by state and federal law.
Minimum Qualifications
J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and academic credentials or practice experience indicative of expertise in relevant subject area(s) and potential for outstanding classroom instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with judicial experience preferred.
