The Lead Payroll Analyst - is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, including proper withholding and deductions. This role involves a wide range of tasks, including calculating overtime, shift differentials, sales commissions, and bonuses, while also managing payroll accounting, tax preparation, and record maintenance. The Lead Payroll Analyst ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements, relevant legislation, and regulatory standards, and provides clear pay information to employees. In addition to payroll processing, the Lead Payroll Analyst may oversee projects, mentor less experienced team members, and handle complex payroll inquiries.
Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, this position will be based in New Port Richey, FL and may work a hybrid schedule. This candidate must live within 60 minutes of New Port Richey, FL.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Ensure employees are paid accurately and timely with correct withholding and deductions.
- Provide advanced level of data and process knowledge to line managers and less experienced Payroll staff.
- Manage projects / processes with limited oversight from management.
- Work with 401K administrator and benefits providers to pass accurate information, maintain payroll system accuracy and ensure compliance.
- Process Federal and State court orders in the HRIS system and work with legal agencies to properly execute orders.
- Operate as the payroll backup for brand payroll administrator.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES - Ensure accurate and timely employee payments, including proper withholding, deductions, overtime, shift payments, sales commissions, bonuses, and other payroll items.
- Maintain payroll records and generate reports for management or to meet legislative obligations. Ensure payments align with collective bargaining agreements, applicable laws, and other regulatory instruments.
- Prepare and distribute pay information to employees and respond to payroll-related inquiries from both employees and supervisors.
- Manage payroll-related projects and processes with limited oversight, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior payroll administrators within the brands, fostering a collaborative environment and helping to develop their skills.
- Duties typically include calculating overtime, shift payments, sales commissions and bonuses, and other relevant Payroll items.
- Prepares taxes and deductions and may include multiple regions.
- Maintains payroll records, HRIS system, prepares reports for management, or to meet legislative obligations.
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
- Associate's degree or equivalent in relevant field; with a minimum of 7 years of directly related Payroll experience with advanced knowledge of payroll systems and regulations. Will consider a minimum of 9 years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Paycom experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a decentralized environment with multiple business units.
Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced software applications skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Advanced knowledge of HRIS and/or Payroll system applications in a complex region that may utilize multiple Payroll systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to provide best-in-class customer service, building effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and influence less experienced staff, manage projects independently, and work effectively across teams and organizational levels.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong mathematical and analytical abilities to ensure accuracy in payroll calculations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Must have state and local tax law understanding as it pertains to payroll.
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to meet important deadlines.
- Consistently operate in a manner that aligns to the Company core values.
Working conditions:
- Work is performed in a typical office environment. Must be able to stand/walk/sit for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Must be able to travel by air or car, domestically.
- Must live within 60 minutes of New Port Richey, FL and be willing to work an onsite/ hybrid schedule.
