POSITION SUMMARY:

As the manufacturing engineering specialist, you will be responsible for

evaluating and execution of manufacturing process, workflows, space requirements, and driving continuous improvements on ongoing projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to work as part of Cross functional team. The ideal candidate will contribute to product innovation, process improvement, and ensure the successful execution of engineering projects. The successful candidate will identify areas for improvement, develop strategies and plans, and oversee the implementation of changes to enhance operational efficiency, quality, and productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support for new product introduction by identifying tooling, and methods of assembly that optimize processing.
  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify potential improvements in the areas of efficiency, quality, yield, and safety.
  • Develop and evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Analyze and develop workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout with collaboration from functional teams.
  • Plan and implement changes to machinery and equipment, production systems and methods of work to achieve the identified improvements.
  • Co-ordinate the implementation of ECNs (Engineering Change Notices) internally or customer driven.
  • Document the new methods and processes and ensure they become ingrained.
  • Ability to work within multiple departments of a manufacturing facility.
  • Lead or participate in special projects as necessary.
  • Identify concerns as early as possible on ongoing projects and alert management of possible risks, challenges, and opportunities, and proposing strategies for improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, actively participating in projects to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall operational effectiveness.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in metal fabrication and manufacturing, and incorporate relevant innovations into production processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing Management, or related field.

Experience
  • Minimum 3 - 7 years of progressive experience in manufacturing environment in a custom-engineered, industrial equipment, modular assemblies.
  • Experience working with end-to-end material conveyance systems an asset.
  • Sound understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & tolerance.
  • Strong ability to prioritize.
  • Strong administration, planning, facilitation & organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building relationships, influencing others, and fostering a positive work culture.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role within the sheet metal fabrication industry, with comprehensive knowledge of production processes, equipment, and quality standards.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, with a track record of successfully implementing process improvements.

Specific Skills, Ability, and Knowledge:

  • In-depth experience in industrial equipment, conveyance systems, hydraulics and electrical design.
  • Structural fabrication, welding, machining, assembly general knowledge
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience in CAD design, SolidWorks 3D preferred.
  • Proficiency with the Autodesk Suite.
  • Experience MS Office software (Word, Excel, Visio)
  • Experience in an integrated ERP system environment, Epicor preferred.
  • Strong management skills - problem solving & decision-making to overcome technical challenges.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with strong organizational skills.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience collaborating with other departments such as new product development, quality, and production.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to details.
  • Willingness to engage in customer issues and troubleshoot as needed to drive resolution.
