Manufacturing Engineering Technician Developmental Role

Area of Development:

Develop Manufacturing Engineering Technician skills to support the weld/fab processes in the facility, troubleshoot and assist in problem isolation and solution. Develop skills and knowledge to provide support to production associates as they assume greater responsibility for the maintenance of the equipment.

Specific Areas of Training and Assignments

1. Apply concepts and details of gauging, fixtures, and tooling to assist in problem solving.

2. Identify areas in which tooling, cleanliness, operation sequences, or forming consistency can be improved to increase throughput or product quality.

3. Help in maintaining and control programing for all weld/fab areas.

4. When necessary, help to evaluate existing tooling and fixturing to determine optimum method of repair or improvement.

5. Provide support to production associates as they assume greater responsibility in manufacturing functions

6. Participate in preventative maintenance as outlined on preventative maintenance schedules of equipment manufacturer's recommendations.

  • Assist with implementing corrective actions in conjunction with management direction.
  • Comply with all safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain building, equipment, and grounds in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Develop working knowledge of and work with existing Manufacturing Engineering Technicians for purchasing supplies and equipment parts as required or directed.


  • Qualifications:

    • Engineering or related technical degree is a plus.

    • Experience in troubleshooting or diagnosing electrical, fluid power, mechanical, or plumbing systems.

    • Two years of welding, metal fabrication and machining experience a plus.

    • Prior experience in areas of maintenance is considered a plus.

    • Must have basic computer knowledge (word processing, databases, and graphing software).

    • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.

    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with different levels of management and production personnel.

    • Proficient in basic problem-solving skills.

    • Reliability is a requirement.

    • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.

    • Self-motivated

    Success indicators

    The candidate must be able to demonstrate satisfactory progression in the development program by demonstrating hands on proficiency of required skill sets.
