Position Overview

The Mechanical Designer is responsible for providing R&D engineers with support by designing parts and assemblies for prototypes of new products and for maintenance of existing designs. This individual will be designing, verifying, validating, and troubleshooting the processes. The successful candidate is a creative problem solver who can effectively collaborate with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Learn Mechanical Design and MCAD software best practices as pertaining to SubCom standards.
  • Draft designs and convert engineers' designs into working documents using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to determine design modifications and edit technical drawings.
  • Provide support during the prototype build and installation process, ensuring the devices are built properly and according to design specifications.
  • Stay up to date with advanced techniques and emerging trends of CAD software.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent design coursework.
  • 1+ years of Mechanical Design experience with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Extensive experience with CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, and ANSYS (or similar) is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiarity with subsea hardware and components.
