Opportunity
A Sustaining Product Development (SPD) Engineer is a technical problem solver, who executes design activities for current Rehlko industrial generators. If you are the type of engineer who likes to get into the details of a design while contributing with line-of-sight to business goals, this position is for you. Working in highly cross-functional teams, you will design and validate parts, assemblies, and systems that support business and sourcing strategies, meet cost and warranty targets, or resolve design issues for customers and manufacturing.

The Details
- Handles responsibilities and performs projects and tasks for technical assignments under general direction of the SPD Manager and Platform Leader
- Contributes to identification and evaluation of alternatives by recommending evaluation methods and criteria, formulating a relevant opinion/solution, and identify short/long term risks involved in each solution
- Assures functional acceptability through application of engineering tools, analysis, and testing
- Documents specifications and achieves product technical, customer, and regulatory requirements
- Supports design projects to support cost reduction targets through VAVE and sourcing strategy implementation.
- Supports design projects to support manufacturing strategy, including reducing downtime and improving assembly throughput.
- Provides ongoing design support of existing product via: resolving design issues for customers and manufacturing, supporting supply chain issues and proposed component changes, supporting ongoing product/component codes & standards compliance, supporting reliability improvements to meet warranty targets
- Provides technical guidance and design direction to CAD Analysts

Skills/Requirements
- Qualified candidates typically have 0 to 3 years of experience working in an engineering field and hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or similar engineering field.
- Engineers who have historically performed well in this role like solving a wide variety of problems and desire a mix between conceptual design and hands-on activities.
- Passion for problem solving is essential!

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
