Job Description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manages the day to day operation of the microbiology department to insure smooth flow of samples and testing
  • Oversees the scheduling of microbiology staff to insure production schedules are met
  • Counsels microbiology staff with regard to problems encountered in daily operations
  • Oversees the checking and transfer of microbiology data as necessary and takes steps to correct possibly inaccurate data prior to continued processing or release
  • Oversees the orientation of new microbiology staff to their responsibilities and the function of the microbiology department
  • Works with Quality Assurance to resolve client complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, and making recommendation to management
  • Identifies process improvements to better meet client expectations and company objectives.
  • Recommends new equipment for the microbiology department.
  • Compiles statistics
  • Oversees the monitoring of inventory/ordering by establishing and maintaining par levels and re-stocking points for microbiology supplies and reagents
  • Serves as a liaison for the department to outside vendors
  • Assists the laboratory manager in the development of a budget and monitors microbiology expenditures
  • Performs duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies
  • Supports Eurofins DPT' business philosophy, leadership values and ethics
  • In order to meet Eurofins DPT's quality policy and objectives, all employees are expected to meet basic expectations of Eurofins's quality management system including, but not limited to good workmanship, adherence to standard operational procedures, training,good documentation practices, and accurate recordkeeping.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor of Science degree required
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques used in microbiologic testing
  • Considerable knowledge of the use of microbiological apparatus and equipment
  • Ability to organize, communicate, teach, and work with others in an effective manner
  • Ability to manage and schedule the work of others
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local standards, regulations, guidelines and requirements effecting operations of a clinical reference laboratory
  • Analytical thinking and communication skills

  • This laboratory carefully maintains all hazardous materials. All employees must abide by Eurofins DPT's Safety and Exposure procedures. This includes using the provided safety clothing and equipment.

Additional Information

Compensation:
  • Salary:$90,000 - $125,000
Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
