Job Summary
The Occupational Health Nurse plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining the health and safety of employees within the workplace. This position involves providing clinical care, implementing health and safety programs, and ensuring compliance with occupational health regulations. The occupational health nurse will work closely with management and employees to address health concerns, manage work-related injuries and illnesses, and support overall wellness initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients for potential care. Take vital signs, provide first aid and triage
- Will be a first responder for emergency care around the facility
- Collaborate with physicians, hospital, and other outside healthcare to provide care for employees
- Assist with worker's compensation entry and tracking
- Monitor and maintain medical supplies
- Document patient's condition and events leading to injuries or illness
- Perform functional analysis testing of new and existing employees
- Assist with ergonomic evaluations and help develop improvements for job functions

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Current LPN, EMT, or paramedic
- 5+ years' experience in an industrial or medical setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPR and first aid
- Ergonomics experience
- Experience leading a health and wellness program, including worker's compensation administration
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to communicate with all levels of employees, from upper management to hourly employees
- Responsible for driving a consistent message throughout the organization
- Ability to do the right thing when no one is looking and strength to stand up when situations arise that put people or the environment at risk
- Position will have access to medical records and must be able to keep confidential information secure
- Knowledge of nursing practices (first aid, wound treatment, etc) and knowledge of physical training (stretching, work hardening, strength training)
- Drives continuous improvement, knowing that even small improvements contribute to the success of the organization
Work EnvironmentThis position operates in the office and in the plant. Most of the time the health assistant will be in an office/clinic setting. But the assistant will be called to the plant to assist in first aid and emergency situations. Assistant will also be involved in plant audits.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. The employee will be subject to heat and to cold temperatures.
