Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, Montana is searching for a full-time Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Orthopedic Team. The Ortho Team services include sports medicine, general Orthopedics, and traditional and robotic joint replacement surgery. The position will include assisting in the operating room as well as some inpatient rounding and clinical consults and follow up.

The Orthopedic PA is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider who actively renders direct patient care and possesses delegated prescriptive authority, is credentialed, and privileged, and whose service is billed as an independent billing provider, as recognized by Medicare and Medicaid within the healthcare systems, and in accordance with the appropriate board. The Advanced Practice Provider provides medical care based upon the scope of practice as delineated by the supervising physician.

The PA will work in collaboration with the practicing physicians and will see patients in the Clinic performing medical evaluations, including timely documentation; perform history and physical examination and records data. This position will plan, manage, evaluate and treat patients. Identify normal and abnormal finding and consult with physician to determine plan of treatment. Will educate patient and family regarding current health status and needs and signs and symptoms of illness. Order any follow-up testing and treatments as indicated by the evaluation; perform clinical and therapeutic procedures, will assist in the operating room and take call 1 in 4.

Successful applicants must be able to work independently, as well as collaborate well with peers and support staff. Close communication with patients and physicians in the community is a fundamental responsibility.

Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required. Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the Montana Board of Medicine and Federal issued DEA.
