IU Studios is the central marketing and communications unit at Indiana University, and includes the University Events and Conferences teams. Our insights and technology-driven teams serve as strategic consultants throughout the university, with a central mission to create experiences that lead to a lifelong love for IU and IU Indianapolis. IU Studios specializes in marketing, digital strategy, research, design, content, visuals, social media, insights, analytics, CRM, media planning, and strategic communications and partners with campuses, schools, and units to achieve specific measurable business goals.
Job Summary
A student in this role is an innovative, motivated and organized looking for an internship that will help them grow, gain real-world experience, learn how to work collaboratively in an integrated marketing team and build their portfolio. They have a passion for IU Indianapolis and telling our campus story. A person in this role should be comfortable being an on-screen personality, shooting and editing vertical short-form videos, and will bring innovative ideas, creative energy and solid content creation skills to produce videos for IU Indianapolis social media accounts.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Produces engaging vertical short-form videos for IU Indianapolis's Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube accounts. Production includes storyboarding, scheduling, shooting and editing.
- Serves as a production assistant on large-scale projects, such as drone shoots, live event coverage, in-studio interviews and ongoing social media campaigns.
- Contributes ideas and meet deadlines on a daily and weekly basis.
- Collaborates with IU Indianapolis social media content interns and the IU Indianapolis Brand Team to brainstorm, develop and create content that aligns with IU Indianapolis's brand strategy.
- Collects royalty free b-roll clips and music, archive assets, track video analytics and research social media video trends.
- Reports to IU Indianapolis Brand Team Social Media and Digital Marketing Specialists
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required- Enrolled as a full-time student at IU Indianapolis
Preferred- Enrolled at IU Indianapolis pursuing either a Media Arts and Science degree or a journalism, marketing or communications degree
EXPERIENCE
Required- Proven video production experience
Preferred- Experience using smartphones to create high quality vertical videos. Experience with Professional video equipment, including DSLR cameras, tripods and microphones
SKILLS
Required
- Ability to bring innovative ideas, creative energy, and solid content creation skills to produce videos for IU Indianapolis social media accounts.
- Strong knowledge of video editing software and video editing techniques (Canva, Splice, InShot, Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro)
- Creative approach to video production with the ability to think quick on your feet and adapt video style to current social media trends.
- Sound judgement, strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- A willingness to learn, adapt and respond to constructive feedback
- Being able to produce quality content on a deadline, including occasional projects with same-day deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with other IU Indianapolis social media interns
- A great attitude and a teamwork-focused approach
