Job Summary

The Sr. Manager, Operations in Waukesha, Wisconsin, directs and oversees the manufacturing for a $100MM+ roof edge metal operation that spans 3 shifts, works 7 days a week and includes 125+ indirect and direct labor teammates. This facility is part of the Carlisle Architectural Metals (CAM) Division within Carlisle Construction materials (CCM). This role has several direct reports including Materials Manager, Production Supervisors, Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, and Maintenance Manager. The successful candidate is responsible for achieving daily output targets that meet our customer demands of 15-20% YOY growth while achieving the following: implementing efficiencies to reduce overall operating costs; achieving daily, monthly and annual goals and objectives; understanding and analyzing the P&L; developing the site CapEx budget; and achieving results through effective staffing, performance management, and policy and procedural enforcement. With a strong focus on Safety, quality, and continuous improvement, this high-level leader influences and works with many cross-functional departments to ensure organizational objectives are met. This is a make-to-order environment with limited forecasting capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership Capabilities: Ability to work and be successful with minimal task definition and supervision throughout the execution of assignments. Responsible for the prioritization and organization of projects and tasks, the coordination of workflow, supervision of the personnel, and delegation of assignments to others.

Strategic Planning: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop short and long-term strategies that will enhance productivity, efficiency, and profitability of operations. Upon facility stabilization, collaborate with peer sites to execute strategies to leverage best practices across the organization.

Facility Planning & Setup: Collaborate with operations and engineering leadership to layout ensuring optimal flow and efficiency of existing automated processes and identify future opportunities for capacity expansion and methods to improve safety, quality, and output within the facility. Oversee the continuous operations of existing production lines and setup and flawless startup of future production lines and infrastructure to meet operational and safety standards.

Equipment Maintenance: Evaluate, implement and sustain best-in-class preventative maintenance for our manufacturing needs. Collaborate with appropriate parties to manage internal and external supplier relationships and ensure timely response to minimize equipment downtime.

Process Development: Develop and document (SOPs) standard operating procedures for manufacturing processes that are scalable, sustainable, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices.

Team Building: Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing team to operate and maintain the advanced technology and robotics. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and innovation within the team focused on SQDC principles.

Operational Oversight: Monitor and analyze (KPIs) Key Performance Indicators to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing operations. Implement improvements to enhance productivity, reduce downtime, and optimize resource utilization. Develop and deliver regular progress reporting and maintain staff productivity measures for internal assessment of performance and ongoing improvement opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with all critical stakeholders, including human resources, engineering, maintenance, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing processes and resolve operational challenges.

Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations comply with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and Carlisle Company safety policies. Promote a safe working environment through regular safety audits and training.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Expertise in lean manufacturing principles and deep understanding of manufacturing processes.
* Strong adaptability, decision making, and resource management skills and abilities.
* Persuasive communication and people skills for effective cross-functional collaboration and ability to communicate, written and spoken, with all stakeholders including external customers.
* Adaptable and flexible leader that is comfortable both "delegating" the work and "doing" the work. Demonstrated ability in recent positions to understand when each is appropriate.
* Analytical and critical thinker that takes an initiative-taking approach, can quickly assess problems and generates creative and effective solutions. Understands when to collaborate and leverage the input of others.
* Ability to work and be successful with minimal task definition and supervision throughout the execution of assignments. Responsible for the prioritization and organization of projects and tasks, the coordination of workflow, supervision of the personnel, and delegation of assignments to others.
* Strong computing skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Proven ability to quickly learn new software programs and systems.
* High attention to detail with above-average follow-up skills in an environment that requires multi-tasking.
* Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and professional discretion; with the demonstrated ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Previous experience in the Roofing industry or sheet metal fabrication is helpful, but not required.
* Six Sigma or lean manufacturing certifications.
* Previous experience with purchasing and/or materials costing.
* Previous experience with ERP/MRP systems integrations and adoptions. Epicor experience is a plus.
* Self-motivated interest in staying current with updates and trends in the Manufacturing, Operations, Lean, and/or Automation Sciences. Related professional memberships and/or certifications are strongly encouraged, but not required.

Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing operations management. Metal fabrication experience is a plus. 12+ years' experience in a leadership position, overseeing a minimum of three (3) professional-level direct reports. Proven track record of successfully leading, motivating, and coaching your people.

Working Conditions:

Location/Hours: You will work full-time during standard business hours and extended based on production schedules or deadlines. Role may require overtime including nights and weekends. May be on call for emergencies or critical issues that arise outside normal working hours.

Noise/Climate/Safety: Adherence to safety protocols is critical. Manufacturing can be noisy due to machinery and equipment. May need to use hearing protection or other items to mitigate exposures. Climate may include hot summers; facility may be climate controlled.

Work Environment: The position is primarily a plant-based position with regular visits to the office. Typically, the majority (<%) of a standard 10-to-12-hour workday will be spent standing and/or walking around the manufacturing floor. Frequently, the incumbent will work 50+ hours per week to successfully complete his or her duties and is "on call" 24 hours for the Plant.

The role is primarily scheduled weekdays between the hours of 7am-7pm, however, due to the nature of our many manufacturing shifts, the incumbent is expected to work a varied schedule including days, nights, and weekends. Additionally, some projects, initiative or situations may require the flexibility to work on weekends or during second-shift hours for extended periods of time. Work-related travel required less than 20%.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or walk; sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk, as well as be required to bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up-to 50 pounds, typically in a team-lift environment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
