Research Support Services (RSS) provides comprehensive contract and grants management support including proposal development, post award management, reporting and metrics. Reporting to the Research Support Services Manager, the Pre-award Specialist is responsible for being the primary point of contact for faculty and researchers seeking to apply for sponsored funding. The Specialist provides a supportive environment for proposal development, managing the application process from initiation to submission in coordination with the ORSP Contract and Grant Specialists to ensure a high level of satisfaction for the faculty and researchers. 1. Manages proposal submissions for PIs from identification through submission
*Acting as a resource for faculty, postdocs and staff submitting proposals, assists with the development of a proposal in LIRA2. Perform Grant and Contract Pre-award administration tasks for department/colleges
*Meet with PI at least monthly to discuss upcoming proposal submissions and discuss funding outlook for submitted proposals3. Keeps abreast of sponsor updates, university policies and changes in research administration, including any upcoming changes to the LIRA system
*Assists investigators in utilizing LIRASpecial Considerations

*One to three years of related work experience
*Highly developed oral and written communication skills
*Strong accounting skills
*Knowledge of basic accounting principles and attention to detail required
