Generate insurance quotes and accompanying documents for new group proposals and existing group renewals. Provide administrative support for Actuarial and Underwriting staff. Provide service and assistance to other internal clients and departments. Maintain a positive working relationship with Sales staff and other PacificSource department staff.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Process insurance plan proposals and/or declinations for four states (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana) using company software and databases.
  • Process small group market insurance plan renewals for four states (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana) using company software and databases.
  • Audit and do analysis on small and large group market renewals for four states (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana) using necessary computations from information available in company databases and communications.
  • Maintain familiarity with federal and state specific insurance regulations for small and large groups to determine group eligibility for an insurance plan proposal and/or renewal.
  • Prepare all supportive documentation for plan proposals, renewals, and declinations. This includes providing supportive documentation or explanation when a proposal or renewal is not being released due to lack of compliance.
  • Maintain and organization e-mail requests that come through an internal Outlook address.
  • Maintain and organize information for several states and months concurrently throughout the year.
  • Communicate with internal customers in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Update and maintain appropriate notes and desktop procedures as required.
  • Provide reporting assistance for renewals and quoting as required.
  • Train new department employees in the use of computer software used by the department for various tasks.

Supporting Responsibilities:
  • Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations.
  • Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUCCESS PROFILE

Work Experience: At least two years of administrative experience in a professional business environment required. Previous insurance experience strongly preferred.

Education, Certificates, Licenses: Requires high school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge: Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and applicable software, including Microsoft Office. Basic math skills and familiarity with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Ability to accomplish tasks under pressure, determine priorities appropriately, and to meet deadlines. The ability to type, keyboard, file, use a fax machine, copy machine, and 10-key. A high level of skill in proofreading and editing. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Environment: Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required less than 5% of the time.

Physical Requirements: Stoop and bend. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while performing core job functions. Repetitive motions to include typing, sorting and filing. Light lifting and carrying of files and business materials. Ability to read and comprehend both written and spoken English. Communicate clearly and effectively.
