The Department of Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering in The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for a Research Program Coordinator position. This position will manage administrative, business, and research activities for The Center for Plasma Material Interactions and the Illinois Plasma Institute.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Track and assist in the preparation of technical publications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to submission deadlines.
  • Draft and disseminate progress reports and project status updates to stakeholders for assigned projects, ensuring clear communication of key developments.
• Assist in the development of project plans to monitor and track progress of varying projects.

• Maintain, organize, and archive project-related documents, records, and data, ensuring accessibility and compliance with organizational standards.

• Coordinate undergraduate research assistant work force including hiring, training compliance, and time sheet approval.

Administrative Support

• Manage all travel arrangements for CPMI and IPI personnel, including meeting logistics, reservations, reimbursements, and registrations. Travel as necessary for meetings, etc.

• Approve departmental expenditures up to $1,000 in accordance with established in university guidelines.

• Monitor and provide detailed reports on fund allocations and expenditures for managed projects.

• Schedule, facilitate, attend meetings, and coordinate with staff and funding organizations.

• Perform other program and project management tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree

• A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in administrative, grant management, financial, research compliance, and related fields.

• Demonstrated experience in publications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the Center for Plasma Material Interactions (CPMI) and the Illinois Plasma Institute (IPI).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

• Excellent oral communication skills.

• Ability to organize meetings, schedules, and events.

• Ability to follow multiple detailed directions of various protocols and meet deadlines.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Strong organizational, planning, problem solving and project management skills.

• Ability to work independently and creatively.

• Ability to work and travel outside of typical hours of standard work hours as needed.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12- month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The budgeted salary range for this position is $55,000 - 65,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Sponsorship for w ork authorization is not available for this position.
