GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Risk Management Specialist identifies, assesses, measures, monitors, and mitigates financial, reputational, regulatory, and operational risks associated with products and services.
This role involves executing risk assessment programs, understanding business unit operations, identifying process risks, and proposing key risk indicators and controls. It also includes developing and maintaining risk mitigation action plans, coordinating risk assessments, and reporting on ongoing risks.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:
Perform risk and control assessments, implement controls, and analyze information to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
Conduct business or process risk assessments and support business unit risk reporting.
Assess new products/services for associated risks.
Review and challenge first line risk assessments.
Analyze internal and external reports for risk assessments.
Identify and define key risk and performance indicators.
Report and escalate issues, providing updates to management.
Assist in reporting operational loss data and performing root cause analysis.
Provide risk advisory services and facilitate stakeholder meetings.
Recommend improvements to policies and procedures.
Maintain risk assessments and relevant information for reporting.
Develop and prepare management reports.
Build partnerships with ERM stakeholders and business functions.
Stay updated on ERM and industry trends.
Contribute to special projects supporting the Risk Management Program.
Understand state and federal laws related to compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, risk management, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in enterprise/operational risk management, audit, or compliance in a financial institution preferred.
Skills:
Experience with risk management programs and processes.
Knowledge of Operational Risk Management concepts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to make sound risk/reward decisions.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Effective communication and presentation skills.
Strong organizational and process management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged sitting with occasional mobility.

Occasional travel and irregular hours may be required.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Relevant risk management certifications beneficial.
