About the Role:

Our reinsurance actuarial pricing department is seeking a highly skilled Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be integral to pricing reinsurance treaties and working closely with underwriting to support our Mortgage and Surety portfolios. This position demands a strong background in actuarial science, combined with advanced coding and modeling skills. This position is based in our Warren, NJ, NYC, Hartford CT, or Stamford, CT office on a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office/2 days remote).

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Reinsurance Pricing: Develop and price reinsurance treaties, providing critical support to the Mortgage and Surety lines, with potential involvement across other Credit, Treaty Casualty, and other reinsurance teams.
  • Model Enhancement: Enhance and maintain our proprietary mortgage model, incorporating recommendations for improvements.
  • Peer Review: Conduct comprehensive peer reviews of team members to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Collaborate with management to produce detailed presentations and reports for internal stakeholders, including the management team, board of directors, and strategic planning committees. Participate in client visits, broker meetings, and marketing events as requested by the underwriters.
  • Trend Studies: Perform trend studies and line of business studies and present results to senior management.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Property & Casualty actuarial pricing, with a preference for experience in reinsurance pricing or commercial lines/large account pricing.
  • Actuarial Progress: Pre-ACAS, ACAS or FCAS.
  • Modeling Expertise: Proven experience in modifying and enhancing actuarial models is highly desirable.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in mortgage or credit lines is advantageous.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong technical skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel, VBA, R, SQL, or Python.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.

For NYC Only: The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
