About the Department

Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) engages alumni (~220k), current students, parents and friends of the University through intellectual, professional and social activities on campus, around the world and online. ARD raises $600 Million annually to support faculty and researchers, practitioners and patients, and students and programs across the University. Our work supports priorities in every division, school, department, and institute.

The Analytics and Technology Solutions (ATS) team provides technology and system solutions to enable ARD to meet aggressive fundraising goals and measure, analyze and predict growth in constituency giving and participation. Using an enterprise approach to data and systems, ATS creates a data and user environment that is consistent yet agile. Collaborating with stakeholders to understand program strategies, ATS develops data, reporting, and analytics solutions that lead to actionable outcomes and actualized goals.

Job Summary

This role uses best practices and knowledge to develop new and existing systems. Solves problems and anticipates evolving business requirements to identify, design, and implement appropriate process improvements, systems alternatives, and/or enhancements to current systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains thorough inventory of technology tools in use across department.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for external vendors and internal finance and procurement teams in procurement and contracting process for new and existing technology.
  • Collaborates closely with partner teams to investigate and evaluate new and existing technology tools.
  • Drives development and evaluation of RFP documents and vendor terms of service to ensure business needs are captured and understood by all parties.
  • Monitors and tracks technology budget and status of existing and planned contracts.
  • Stays abreast of technology developments and trends within industry to recommend new and innovative solutions.
  • Recommends process improvements in existing applications and revises existing system logic difficulties as necessary. Designs, develops, and implements new applications, systems architecture, network systems, and applications infrastructures.
  • Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions and with an eye towards broadly diversifying the advancement profession.
  • Has a deep understanding of business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses. Solves complex problems relating to computer equipment capacity, limitations, and operation time.
  • Utilizes thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements to translate business and user needs into system requirement specifications.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Experience:
  • Professional work experience in product management, project management, management consulting, or related roles.
  • Minimum one year of experience developing and monitoring budgets.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Work across various teams and projects simultaneously, advancing unified strategy.
  • Broad experience working with Salesforce CRM.

Preferred Competencies
  • Strong project management skills, with an aptitude for leading end-to-end project delivery.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of higher education advancement industry.

Working Conditions
  • This position has a hybrid work schedule which includes weekly in office presence.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • This position is located in Hyde Park at 5235 South Harper Court.
