Your role
The Digital Realty Business Intelligence and Data Analytics team is looking for someone with data warehousing, data visualizations and thought leadership to manage our corporate data center inventory application as data moves through the data warehouse, links up to other source systems and is consumed by front end applications for reporting and visualizations. This role will be responsible for designing, controlling and enhancing our portfolio inventory semantic layer found in the warehouse as data is published to different reporting environments and downstream applications. We need someone to own the consumption of data, provide thought process of how to improve data quality and data integrity while joining/linking data to other disparate systems to make the data usable by others.
What you'll do
- Ability to interact with business stakeholders and gather requirements.
- Ability to translate business requirements correctly into technical specifications.
- Ability to work with our team developers in explaining requirements, providing database design models and test code before implementing in production.
- Design and implement dashboards/reports and provide end user training for self-service BI
- Manage and identify data quality and data integrity issues
- Participate in the definition of best practices, standards and optimization techniques to enhance the DWH/BI/MDM solution to support the inventory program.
- Contribute to business process re-engineering and change management
- Support the periodic release of business intelligence team updates by reviewing, testing, and validating in advance of production release and mitigating any issues found to minimize impact on the business team
To be successful you must be able to:
- Data Integrity - understand how users are interacting with existing applications to pinpoint the usability weakness that are contributing to data integrity issues and provide short term and long-term solutions that will fill the gaps and support existing solution.
- Data Management and Research- understanding of the basic table structures behind each application UI and how user input through the UI affects the back-end table. Ability to combine the tables from source systems into a centralized location so that UI applications can be leveraged to adjust the data without impacting source data but allowing more accurate analysis until the long term solutions can be implemented in the source applications.
- Vision and Perspective - needs to grasp short, mid, and long-term goals and deliverables understanding the different needs/limitations of each group involved so that the right questions and solutions can be presented to the end users.
What you'll need - 4+ years with expertise in data warehousing, data modeling, Business Intelligence and Master Data Management
- 4+ years experience in Microsoft products like SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, PowerBI , ETL tools or the equivalent. During 2024, we will be migrating from our Oracle products over to Microsoft products.
- Be able to design snowflake and star schema database models with proficient in SQL and ability to analyze data
- Experience testing to successfully validate data and reports, including input to test plans, test scenarios, and test scripts
- Strong business process experience and acumen
- Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal, and analytical skills is required.
- A process-oriented individual, with strong project management skills, who has the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
- An ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical and impactful manner.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to changing business models.
- Experienced in Agile and Waterfall Methodologies
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related fields
