Accountabilities:

Accountable for reconciling complex entries and maintaining up to date and accurate general ledger entries for assigned areas of the organization. Accountable for identifying and solving simple to moderately complex operational accounting issues. Responsible for the review and completion of accounting journal entries, ensuring accuracy of GL within assigned areas. Accountable for proper accounting, reconciliation and communication to primary investigators associated with internal research grants. Accountable for proper accounting, reconciliation and communication to primary investigators associated with agency funds. Responsible for coordinating the initiation of wire transfers, especially those related to study groups. Responsible for the review and reconciliation of most University cash accounts to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.

Responsible for the effective supervision of staff as assigned and coordinates work flow from the accounts payable/payroll and general ledger team.

Professional Experience/ Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting principles
  • Outstanding attention to detail in performing account reconciliations
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a strong commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture
  • 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education or not-for-profit accounting is a bonus

Education:

  • A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Accounting is preferred
