Apply now for the position of Staff Clinical Data Engineer, and you will have a significant impact in shaping our diagnostics portfolio by developing innovating data pipelines that transform clinical data, through data analysis and visualization, into insights our customers need to effectively make clinical decisions.

This role will report to the Senior Director of Clinical Data Management, Analytics, and Data Engineering.

Your role:

  • You will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems and pipelines that bridge clinical data management and biostatistics processes.
  • You will leverage your talents in programming, data analytics, and data engineering to extract, load, and transform data and make it ready for further analysis. You will develop applications to automate routine data management and analysis tasks.
  • You will support development and validation of analytics applications to improve quality and predictability of clinical trials.
  • You will be responsible for developing and validating applications and pipelines that are consistent with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • You will maintain, develop, and improve clinical data management and biostatistical process and standard operating procedures. You will be responsible for documentation of data engineering processes and pipelines.
  • You will support current and legacy database systems in collaboration with clinical data managers and database developers.

Your expertise:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Data Analytics Engineering is preferred. Exceptional candidates with master's degrees in other STEM fields will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years in a data engineering capacity, preferably within the biosciences industry. Candidates are required to have experience developing and maintaining data pipelines & ETL/ELT processes using code-based programming.
  • Strong programming experience within Python, R, and SQL is required. Candidates with additional experience in Scala and Java will also be considered. Experience with a dashboard language such as PowerBI, Qlik, or Tableau is a plus.
  • Experience with modern database platforms, such as SnowFlake and DataLake, is preferred. Candidate should also have knowledge and experience with data transformation tools such as Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
  • The candidate should have a combination of education and experience within one or more of the following areas: data warehousing principles, data analytics, machine learning and deep learning software engineering, SCRUM/Agile methodology, clinical data standards, and data privacy regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

The pay range for this position is $140,000 - $165,000 U.S. dollars annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as where the work will be performed. The annual incentive target is (10%) of base pay. Siemens Healthineers offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.
