Job DescriptionThe Office of Student Access and Accommodations (OSAA) seeks a temporary Student Accommodation Coordinator to conduct intake appointments, interpret documents, and communicate accommodation processes. The Student Accommodation Coordinator is responsible for the case management for student accommodations – from request to approval and implementation. This is a part-time temporary, 12 - month position.  

 

• Coordinate support services for students with documented disabilities
• Collect, verify, and maintain documentation for the Office of Student Access and Accommodations
• Assist with scheduling and conducting appointments for students with disabilities
• Meet with students for informational or drop-in appointments, providing relevant material about the Office of Student Access and Accommodations
• Work collaboratively and flexibly with faculty and staff to implement accommodations
• Coordinate and problem solve with academic departments to ensure student accommodations are implemented appropriately
• Work with Assistant Manager on the coordination of peer note-taking, testing, and assistive technology services for students
• Provide training and information on accessibility and coordination of services
• Responsible for maintaining accurate and timely student case notes
• Compile weekly and annual OSAA data reports
• Help assess, develop, and evaluate the OSAA process, including assisting the Assistant Dean and Director to stay abreast of “best practices” in the field, clinical technical standards, licensing accommodation information, and local resources for disability testing/support
• Manages electronic and web-based data and file management; analyzes OSAA data to ensure accuracy of data entry and currency of accommodations
• Coordinate plan of support with other departments
• Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds required
• Represent the department at campus events such as Open House, Accepted Students Day, Orientation, Family Weekend, Final Exams, and Commencement that may occur on evenings and weekends
• Participate in retreats and professional development within the Department of Student Affairs
• Serve on Student Affairs and university-wide committees
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required:
• Master’s Degree required, Minimum of 1-3 years in higher education, experience providing relevant services in a college setting including: Disability Law and Section 504/ADA compliance, interpreting psychometric testing, and verifying disabilities and prescription of support services and accommodations.
• Ability to follow procedures and protocols established by the supervisor.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong Interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
• Ability to be flexible in work schedule for periodic exam proctoring
• Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast paced environment
• Requires the use of a desktop monitor, and keyboarding, for extended periods of time
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

 

Physical Requirements:
• Work is mostly sedentary and majority of time is spent sitting
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
• Must be able to crawl under desks
• Must be able to be constantly exposed to weather conditions.
