General Description:

This position is responsible for the management of Accounting and Business Lab operations; tutoring students; the hiring/training/termination of Lab tutors; the supervising of Lab tutors; creating Lab materials to facilitate student learning; the management of budget for STEP and TAP tutors; troubleshooting online issues with coursework; and scheduling, coordinating, and working with faculty in support of all accounting, economics, finance, and other business courses.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Associate's degree in business

Minimum of 6 semester credit hours in accounting.

Communicating concepts and ideas to students.

Abilities:
Work in a confidential and professional manner.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is light work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, and staff to perform the essential functions of the position; must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to operate a computer and other office machinery to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.

This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

Work is performed in indoor lab, classroom, and/or office setting.

Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.

Work is performed within a schedule that varies depending on the needs of the Accounting/Business Lab; some evenings and weekends required.

Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution

Work Hours:

40 hours per week. Work schedule will vary depending on the needs of the Student Business Center. Some evenings and weekends will be required.

Job Duties (Position Specific):

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):

Supervises Accounting/Business Lab tutors; tutors and mentors students; coordinates tutorial coverage of the Lab; creates/updates assistance materials; and assists students with assigned accounting/business homework exercises, homework help sheets, problem assistance, and practice sheets.

Manages STEP and TAP budgets.

Administers the Accounting and Business Lab; collaborates with faculty and staff to build awareness and business continuity in support of accounting, business, economics and other BIT courses and programs; assists professors; assists Accounting and Business students with the operation of the computers for the computer assisted instruction and assigned computer homework; maintains equipment; and ensures cleanliness of Lab.

Collaborates with Student Computer Center to provide additional resources and support for students; facilitates communication in this area between students and faculty; ensures accuracy on Lab web pages;troubleshoots online problems, complaints, and other issues; promotes Lab via YouTube, Facebook, flyers, etc.; and manages social media accounts to provide accurate information to students and others who use these resources.

Ensures a conducive learning environment; develops innovative learning solutions in support of student success; and works closely with everyone in Department to make the learning experience better.

Tracks the number of students that utilize the Lab in order to not only proactively address student needs but also address the requirements for various College and Department resources.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures):

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
