Insulation / Painting Technician II- C

Merritt Island, FL

Contract Position

Responsibilities:

  • Perform paint and seal processes on New Glenn vehicles, including surface preparation, masking, and application of paints, foam insulation, and thermal protection systems (TPS).
  • Operate test facilities and ground support equipment, working with engineers to refine design concepts and improve facilities.
  • Work with hazardous chemicals and high-pressure systems while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Apply logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces using stencils and measuring instruments.
  • Conduct surface preparation, adhesive application, vacuum bagging, and gap filling on large structures.
  • Follow and improve work instructions related to safety, quality, and process efficiency.
  • Inspect finished products for defects and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Support scheduled shifts, including overtime and weekends as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years in aerospace coating and thermal protection applications.
    • Expertise in one or more of the following: primer/topcoat applications, foam insulation, conversion coatings, sealants, adhesives, and vacuum bagging.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of safety protocols for handling chemicals.
    • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, and work instructions.
    • Basic computer literacy (Windows, Microsoft Office).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift items over 50 lbs.
  • Clearance: Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee.
  • Desired Qualifications:
    • 3+ years of experience in aerospace thermal protection systems or coatings.
    • Industry certification, trade school training, or a related degree.
    • Experience with large aerospace components and tight-tolerance structures.
    • Familiarity with new product introduction, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies.
