The University of Iowa International Programs is seeking to hire a 100% Web and Events Coordinator.

The Web and Events Coordinator will beresponsible for managing web content, coordinating and supporting events, and executing communications initiatives. The coordinator will oversee website content management for the IP website, study abroad program pages, and the UI Passport Office; work with Information Technology Services to ensure accessibility; and use Google Analytics to improve performance across all three sites. They will also have the opportunity to:

  • Serve as the webmaster for the IP website, including updating website content/images, collaborating with ITS to develop the site and troubleshoot issues as they arise, and ensuring the accessibility and adaptability of the site.
  • Create communications, including emails and documents relating to specific event planning. This includes travel itineraries, scheduling, and policy information, conveying UI guidelines to educate external vendors, customers and international and domestic visitors.
  • Utilize Google Analytics or other analytics tools to inform content and design of IP's website.
  • Develop short- and long-terms plans for the International Programs and UI Passport Office website to enhance their effectiveness over time.

About the Department:At the University of Iowa, International Programs functions as a catalyst for internationalization and a hub for international activities. In 1997, the Iowa Board of Regents brought international research, instruction, and services together under the leadership of an associate provost and dean, and assistant provost for International Programs. The International Programs department provides leadership and support for internationally oriented teaching, research, creative work, and community engagement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one year of experience in a project management, event coordination, web content management, and/or communications role.
Competencies Required:
  • Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:
    • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create content for various media platforms, including websites, newsletters, press releases, and social media; and under deadline for a variety of purposes, goals, audiences, and media.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work with a variety of stakeholders, including faculty, students, and external partners.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders in a professional setting.
    • Proficiency with analytics tools such as Google Analytics for tracking website performance and informing content decisions.
    • Demonstrated experience in web content management, including proficiency with content management systems (e.g., Drupal) and web publishing tools.
    • Demonstrated experience with event planning and logistics for in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid events, including vendor coordination, AV setup, and event execution.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Technological proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, and other digital platforms used for virtual events. Willingness to adapt to and become proficient in changing technologies.
  • Experience with tracking expenses and budget oversight.
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Ability to lead projects independently, such as large-scale events (e.g., International Education Week) and web migration projects.

Work Modality: This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Compensation: $46,000 - $55,000 with Competitive Benefits
