Job Description:
Position Summary
This role provides direct support to the Project Engineer by providing technical advice and guidance to project staff on roadway, tunnel and facility infrastructure operations and maintenance by applying engineering knowledge and skills. Also provides support by ensuring that work performed, follows project specific requirements for the DC Tunnels.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Associate Project Engineer will work in conjunction with and provide support to the Project Engineer in:
- Ensure compliance of processes, work plans, procedures, and specifications within the contractual performance standards for roadways, facilities, and tunnel.
- Provide technical guidance for quality assurance reviews of project subcontractors and/or consultant documentation and provides recommendations to project staff.
- Perform quality control reviews of submitted reports by project subcontractors and consultants for roadways, facilities and tunnel assets.
- Assist in determining best approach (self-performance or sub-contract) to bring roadway, facility and tunnel assets into contract compliance considering cost, timelines, and efficiency.
- Use of computer-aided design software to prepare drawings and engineering documents.
- Demonstrate familiarity with maintenance practices and asset maintenance systems.
- Demonstrate familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Demonstrate commitment to continuously update necessary job skills and technical knowledge as required for the role.
- Maintain, periodically review, and improve the content of Technical Maintenance Instructions and all associated documentation.
- Assist in the revision of maintenance job plans in CMMS.
- Complete reports and ensure their timely and accurate submission to project management.
- Any other duties that are assigned by the project management to include special projects and studies.
- Proactively identifies project issues and appropriately manages them to the satisfaction of client and Ferrovial services business goals; and escalating them to project management as appropriate.
- Demonstrates time management and planning skills, technical report writing skills, and basic presentation skills.
- Assist in developing technical training programs.
- Avoids legal challenges by complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
- Assist in developing cost saving initiatives through processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with and demonstrates adherence to the Health and Safety practices of the Infrastructure industry and Ferrovial Services
- Carry out all duties in line with Company values, policies and procedures.

Education and Experience
- B.S. Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
- EIT certification preferred but may be substituted for relevant work experience in maintenance or construction methods, materials, standards and specifications
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (Required).
- Working knowledge of state and federal guidelines and regulations
- Work efficiently with Microsoft Applications
- Must obtain Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and OSHA 10-hour within 6-12 months of hire.
Work Conditions/Physical DemandsWork performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions and in project sites as needed at both day and night times.
