Job Description

As a team member, the Senior Systems Engineer provides software development support and expertise to deliver a high-level of operational excellence for the Defense Financial Management System (DFMS), in the day-to-day operations for the unclassified and classified Programs in Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) and Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) hosted environments. Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. May supervise others.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Analyzes and studies complex system requirements.
• Designs software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manages their implementation.
• Manages software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
• Estimates software development costs and schedule.
• Reviews existing programs and assists in making refinements, reducing operating time and improving current techniques.
• Supervises software configuration management

Education & Experience

• 10 years of relevant experience

Required Experience:

• Experience with Microsoft IIS, Oracle Database administration, Oracle OBIEE, Java, Active Server Pages (ASP), and the Planning, Programing, Budget and Execution (PPBE) process.
• Demonstrated familiarity with the processes and procedures used to import data from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Defense Agency Initiative (DAI) application using Oracle OBIEE, Oracle database objects, and Java.

Desired Experience:

• Demonstrated familiarity with Subversion, and Jira
• Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
• Excellent Linux and Windows system knowledge
• Experience with technical documentation writing / knowledgebase article creation

Strong motivation to analyze and improve systems and infrastructure

Certifications

* CompTIA Security Plus-CE certification, or higher.

Security Clearance

* Candidate must have a Secret Clearance.

Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.)

* Primarily Work from Home, with potential to attend occasional meetings at Fort Meade, MD.
